General Conditions
- Skyward Airlines reserves the right to change departure times, aircraft, or carrier when required due to operational, weather, or safety reasons.
- Skyward Airlines shall not be liable for any direct or consequential costs arising from delays, including missed connections with other domestic or international carriers. Skyward Airlines only guarantees connections to flights operated by Skyward Airlines.
- All itinerary changes on confirmed tickets must be requested via email to
reservations@skywardairlines.co.ke. - Reservation changes must be made at least 6 hours before the scheduled departure. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the entire fare.
- Changes to reservation date and/or time are permitted at a fee of USD 17 per person. If the original fare is no longer available at the time of change, the next available higher fare will apply, and any fare difference must be paid.
- Name changes are permitted at a fee of USD 30 per person.
- Re-routing amendments are allowed at a fee of USD 35 per person. The passenger must pay any applicable fare difference.
- Check-in counters open 2hours before departure and close 40 minutes before departure.
- No-show tickets are non-reusable and non-refundable.
- All passengers must present a valid photo identification document at check-in (National ID or Passport). For minors (below 18 years) and infants (0–23 months), a Birth Certificate, Birth Notification, or School ID is acceptable.
Baggage Allowance
- Baggage allowance is determined by the fare brand purchased and may vary by route and airport. Passengers are advised to carefully review the fare conditions and baggage entitlement applicable to their selected fare before completing their booking.
- Wilson Airport
Depending on the aircraft operated and fare brand purchased, passengers may be entitled to up to one (1) piece of checked baggage not exceeding 15 kg and one (1) piece of
hand luggage not exceeding 5 kg. - Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA)
Depending on aircraft operated and the fare brand purchased, passengers may be entitled to up to one (1) piece of checked baggage not exceeding 23 kg and one (1) piece of hand luggage not exceeding 7 kg. - Passengers are responsible for ensuring that they understand and accept the applicable baggage allowance and fare conditions prior to ticket purchase.
- Infants not occupying a seat are permitted one (1) piece of hand baggage not exceeding 5kg and one fully collapsible stroller.
- Excess baggage will be charged at USD 3 per kilogram, subject to aircraft space
availability. No single bag or item may exceed 32 kg. - Reprinting of boarding passes will attract a fee of USD 20 per passenger.
- Ticket validity is based on the first date of travel and the fare type purchased.
- Open tickets are valid for three (3) months from the first date of travel.
- Firearms and/or ammunition must be declared at the check-in counter and handled in accordance with airline and regulatory requirements.
- Skyward Airlines is a an Approved Dangerous Goods Carrier.
Expectant & New Mothers
- Expectant mothers between 29 and 35 weeks of pregnancy must present a medical certificate issued within 48 hours prior to departure, confirming fitness to travel by air. Passengers 36 weeks pregnant or more will not be permitted to travel.
- New mothers travelling within 7 days after childbirth must present a doctor’s certificate declaring them fit to fly and will be required to complete a Skyward Airlines Medical Declaration Form.
- Newborn babies are not permitted to travel until at least 7 days after birth.

Baggage Policy 2
INFANTS
Infants not occupying a seat are entitled to:
- One (1) piece of hand baggage not exceeding 5 kg, and
- One fully collapsible stroller.
EXCESS BAGGAGE COSTS
Overweight baggage will be charged at USD 3 per kilogram, payable at the check-in
counter. All excess baggage is carried subject to aircraft space availability.
ELECTRONIC DEVICES
- Passengers must be able to activate electronic devices (e.g. CD players, laptops,
video cameras) upon request at the security checkpoint. - If a device cannot be activated, it must be placed in checked baggage.
- Cellular phones must be switched off at all times during the flight.
Permitted electronic devices onboard include:
- Voice recorders
- Calculators
- Laptop computers
- Hand-held CD players
- Hand-held electronic devices
- Electronic games
- Cameras and photographic equipment
RESTRICTED CARRY-ON ITEMS
Skyward Airlines complies with the ICAO Technical Instructions and the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.
Passengers are responsible for complying with all security screening requirements. If
baggage is not transported due to a passenger’s failure to meet security requirements,
Skyward Airlines shall not be liable for any associated costs.
For safety and security reasons, the following items are not permitted in hand baggage and should be placed in checked baggage where allowed:
- Knives (including hunting knives, swords, and pocket knives)
- Scissors and other sharp or bladed objects (e.g. ice picks, nail clippers)
- Weapons such as whips, batons, stun guns
- Toy guns, gun-shaped items, replicas, and handcuffs
- Sporting equipment such as baseball/cricket bats, golf clubs, hockey sticks,
billiard cues - Baby strollers and devices with spillable batteries
- Aerosols (e.g. hairsprays, perfumes, medicines containing alcohol) exceeding 100 ml
- Any items deemed a security hazard under local laws
- Any items resembling or having similar functions to the above
Note: Prohibited items discovered at the boarding gate may be confiscated.
RESTRICTED ITEMS (I)
For health and safety reasons, the following items will not be accepted for carriage:
- Items likely to endanger the aircraft, passengers, or property
- Items likely to be damaged during air transport
- Unsuitably packed items
- Human remains
- Glue, paint, or radioactive materials
- Poisonous or infectious substances
- Items likely to cause discomfort or distress to others
- Items resembling firearms, ammunition, or explosives
- Flammable substances (except alcoholic beverages, hair spray, perfume, or cologne)
- Corrosives (except mercury in thermometers, barometers, and wheelchair
batteries) - Firearms, ammunition, and explosives, including hunting or sporting weapons
RESTRICTED ITEMS (II)
The following items are also prohibited:
- Items specified in the ICAO Technical Instructions
- Items unsuitable for carriage due to weight, size, or unusual characteristics
- Items forbidden under applicable laws, regulations, or orders of any state involved in the carriage
- Materials that endanger safety, health, life, or property
- Condensed gases (except CO₂ used for prosthetic devices or self-inflating lifejackets)
- Briefcases or security attaché cases with built-in alarm devices, lithium batteries, or pyrotechnic material
SPORTING EQUIPMENT
Sporting equipment may be transported for an additional fee, subject to space
availability. Accepted items include:
- Golf bags packed in a protective pouch
- Bicycles packed in a bicycle travel case or cardboard box, with wheels and pedals removed, handlebars turned parallel, and tyres deflated
- Diving equipment with empty cylinders and power sources removed or secured in the “off” position
- Fishing equipment
Note: Skyward Airlines does not provide packaging material. Improperly packaged equipment will not be accepted for transport.
PERMITTED CARRY-ON ITEMS
Examples of permitted personal items include:
- Non-metallic nail files
- Syringes or needles for personal medical use, provided they are accompanied by the medication in its original labelled container and have a needle guard in place.
Travel Requirements & Documentation
PASSENGERS AGED 18 YEARS AND ABOVE
Passengers travelling within Kenya must present one of the following:
- A valid government-issued Kenyan National ID with photograph, or
- A valid passport – Driving licences will not be accepted.
PASSENGERS UNDER 18 YEARS
Passengers under 18 years travelling within Kenya are requested to present:
- Valid identification (government-issued preferred), or
- Student ID card
UNACCOMPANIED MINORS & INFANTS
For unaccompanied minors and infants under 2 years:
- Valid identification (government-issued preferred)
- Student ID card where applicable
Note: The name on the identification must match the name on the boarding pass.
Unaccompanied Minors Service
- Children aged 5 to 14 years travelling alone will receive full assistance to ensure a safe and comfortable journey.
- A parent or legal guardian must accompany the child to the airport check-in counter to complete the unaccompanied minor form.
- A customer service agent will assist the child through the airport until boarding.
- Cabin crew will take responsibility for the child once onboard.
- Parents may notify Skyward Airlines of special occasions during booking.
- Children aged 15 to 18 years may use the unaccompanied minors service upon request but are generally assumed not to require it.
DROP-OFF & PICK-UP
- Parents or guardians will receive regular updates on flight departure and arrival times.
- Accurate contact information must be provided to ensure effective
communication.
UNACCOMPANIED MINOR FARE:
Children above 2 years pay 75% of the adult fare.
Passengers With Special Needs
Skyward Airlines provides assistance to passengers with reduced mobility or special
needs, including elderly passengers, persons with disabilities, and passengers with
autism.
1. Passengers requiring assistance should notify Skyward Airlines at least 48 hours
prior to departure.
2. Assistance may be requested during booking or at check-in.
3. Passengers are advised to arrive at least 90 minutes before departure.
BATTERY REQUIREMENTS
- Wet-cell (spillable) batteries are not accepted.
- Dry-cell or gel batteries are permitted if disconnected, secured, and terminals
protected. - Lithium-ion batteries may remain installed if securely attached and terminals protected.
If the battery is removable:
- It must be removed, insulated, and carried in the cabin
- Maximum battery size: 300 Wh, or 160 Wh per battery if two are required
- One spare battery (300 Wh) or two spares (160 Wh each) may be carried
Liability of the Carrier
Skyward Airlines’ liability for death, injury, delay, baggage loss, damage, or delay is limited as provided by applicable international conventions, national laws, and regulations. Skyward Airlines shall not be liable for indirect or consequential damages unless otherwise required by law. Liability limits may be higher where mandated by applicable consumer protection regulations.
Delays, Schedule Changes and Cancellations
Skyward Airlines does not guarantee flight schedules and reserves the right to delay, reschedule, substitute aircraft, or cancel flights for operational, safety, weather, or force majeure reasons. In the event of a delay or cancellation, Skyward Airlines will take reasonable measures to inform passengers and offer options in accordance with applicable laws and the fare conditions purchased.
Denied Boarding
Skyward Airlines may deny boarding to a passenger for safety, security, regulatory, or operational reasons, including but not limited to overbooking, failure to present valid travel documents, non-compliance with airline instructions, or health and safety concerns. Where boarding is denied involuntarily, Skyward Airlines will provide assistance or compensation where
required by applicable law.
Refunds
Refunds shall be processed in accordance with the fare rules and conditions applicable to the
ticket purchased. Non-refundable fares are not eligible for refund except where required by law.
Any approved refunds shall be made to the original form of payment within a reasonable
timeframe.
Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
These Conditions of Carriage shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of
the Republic of Kenya. Any disputes arising shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent
courts of Kenya, unless otherwise provided by applicable international conventions.
